5.08 Kimi Ni Todoke

So like Fruits Basket, this is also another manga which I have read, and let me tell you, obviously my favorite manga ever to read. And if you're more the tv/computer type, then you should definitely watch it.

Kimi ni Todoke means, "Reaching you." In this story, there is a girl, Sawako Kuronuma, but she is not like all other girls. She has the perfect, sweet parents, the money, but Sawako? Well, she might have turned out good if everyone in class had treated her the right way. But no, the first day they saw her, they made fun of her and cast her aside, calling her the demon and all sorts of hurtful names, while Sawako took it all in. But you see, Sawako is a beautiful being. She didn't scream or shout, she didn't pray that her classmates died. She took it all in and smiled and loved them even when they hated her. Life for Sawako is the same until a classmate of hers, Kazehaya, the most popular boy there says hi to her and smikes at her. From their, Sawako's life changes. It was the first friendly gesture shes ever gotten. Little did she know that Kazehaya had fell in love with her from the beginning. Because of Kazehaya, Sawako gets to experience many things she never would have experienced. She experiences love, friendship, jealousy, betrayl...but through it all, Sawako loved the people around her and never gave hope, even when people like us tends to give up without a second thought, Sawako give not two chances, two-hundred chances. And sometimes i believe as humans, thats what we need to do.

Personal Reaction:
My reaction to this mkanga is that I absolutely aodre it. Sawako is just such a beautiful character. I know she's fake, but it's relieving to know that their are people that innocent out there, and it makes me want to become a better person altogether. The author's intent was to entertain us and also give us an emotional feeling by giving us a story about a girl who did nothing but love and in the end got loved. And also to show and teach us a lesson, that maybe we should believe in happy endings.

The pattern of organization I observed was Chronological Order.

Message In A Bottle

Message in a Bottle, by the ever-loving Nicholas Sparks, is already taking me in. I'm only on Chapter 2, but the book seems really good.
So there's this woman named Theresa. She's now single, after she found out her husband was cheating on her and left her. Her husband wasn't a bad man. David paid child support, called once a while, and loved Kevin, her little boy, to death. But cheating...apparently he had fallen out of love with Theresa. Things just hadn;t gone well, hence the divorce. But when she takes a look at her best friend, Deanna and her relationship with her husband...she just has to wonder where she went wrong.
So it leaves Theresa walking along the side of the beach thinking about what she really wants in life. She feels terribly alone, even though she has her best friend and son. But what could she do? All she wanted was a long and healthy relationship with her soul mate. But soon enough, she comes across a bottle in the ocean, and inside it, a beautiful love letter, so beautiful it brought Theresa to tears. Maybe, just maybe, there is such a thing as pure, innocent love.

Personal Reaction:
My reaction to these chapters was predicting. Like, how would Nicholas Sparks make this turn into a beautiful story. It already looks like a good one though. But this story was intended for adults, but I'm already liking this, even though I prefer book targeted or has teenagers, this book really pulls you, and it just has a mystery, a twist, that'll make you want to read it even more. The author's intent was probably first to pull the reader into reading this, hence the bottle Theresa found in the ocean. It is written in Chronological order, everything occuring in time. I definately recommend anyone and everyone to read this wonderful book.

Fruits Basket

So I decided to do something different this time. I read a manga, which is a Japanese graphic novel, and it was called Fruits Basket.

○○○

She remembers a time when her mother used to read that same story for her before she went to sleep. It was about the Chinese Zodiac, feturing the twelve animals. Her mother held her hand as she told her that this year, the cat was to be in the Zodiac instead of the rat, for the gods wanted to give the cat a chance, and the gods told the rat to tell the cat. Now the rat wasn't happy with its place being taken, especially by the cat he hated the most. So one day, the rat told the cat about the happy news of him being apointed as the part of the Zodiac. The cat was ecstatic and believed every word the rat said, including the oart when he said that the ceremony was tomorrow, when in fact it was that same day at night. The next day, the cat realized that the rat had tricked him and they had become enemies ever since.

Fruits Basket is about a girl named Tohru Honda. She is a sweet, innocent girl who thinks of this twisted wordl as a pure world, even though it took away her mother and father and left her an orphan. She smiles at everything and stands for the truth and what is right. So what does she do when she meets 12 people that turn into Zodiac animals? Each person holds within them their own miserable past. Especially the cat, who Tohru falls for, yet Kyo, the cat, doesn't want to hurt her because unbeknownst to Tohru, Kyo has a nasty monster inside of him, which keeps him from living his life. And the only one that can change him back is someone who won't be scared to look at him, someone who loves him for who he really is.

Personal Reaction:
I love reading manga, especially Fruits Basket. Tohru Honda, though it sounds stupid, is my role model. She is kind to anyone and everyone, even people that ignored her in the past to the people who hate her inb the future. She works hard to make the people in her life smile, even if she has to sacrifice. She will do anything for the people she loves, she will take a bullet for those close to her. Without a doubt, she's a hero, even though she's a catoon character, I always think about her whenever situations come up. She's like the definition of peace, of a smile, of happiness, and I love that.

Author's Intent:
I believe the authors intent was to entertain us with a beautiful and tragic story of happiness and teach us profound lessons of life. The author, using Tohru, slips in what she thinks life is and how we should live life, happily, peacefully, without hate, and by loving everyone around us.

.:The Last Song:.

So let me tell you. This book was probably the best book out there. I didn't know Nicholas Sparks was so good! If anyone is looking for a good romance/comedy/sad story, then The Last Song is just for you. So this book is about a girl named Ronnie who has one heck of a life. Her parents just divorced, she's not really best friends with her mom, she hasn't talked to her dad for three years, and its all just black and white for her, but then her mom drops the bomb on her and tells her that she and her little brother Jonah will be spending the summer with their dad. As if her life couldn't get any worse. Her life changes when she meets new people, her traitor/best friend Blaze, the dangerous Marcus, and the love of her life Will. It all changes though when she sees her dad's true character and she realized that he wasn't a bad person at all, that he never really had left them, but its all too late though when she finds out her dad's supposed to die soon. She realizes what a mistake she's done and she does everything she can to make life worth living for.

The best style to use for this book would be outline. If you use outline, then you would be able to write main ideas for every chapter and then write supporting deatils for everything.

On the “What Kind of Reader Are You” quiz, I got fiction and comedy as my most favorite genres. I believe that is accurate because I really love to read fiction and seeing how creative people can get and going to a different world and atmosphere the author has created. I also love comedy, well, who doesn’t love a good laugh? I love being happy, so laughing along and reading comedic books are fun.
Hmmmm….I’m trying to remember exactly what I read…oh yeah! The last thing I read was some really long text messages from my best friend saying how happy she was to have me. She even said some personal things about her life and she said that I actually saved her life from being cut short from me just being me, which makes me happy. And then she told me how happy she was that I was her best friend and she texted me some funny quotes and sayings and I was just laughing and it made me so happy.
